This year Lisbon has managed to put on a great Xmas light show, simple and classy. Not sure how we can afford this spectacle considering the tough times, but there is no denying that it does warm the heart. And my heart is warmed but for more than just the lights, a casual stroll past The Wrong Shop yesterday, and to my surprise there in the window an Esquilo bag. Made me very happy indeed. You can find The Wrong Shop in Lisbon, on Calçada do Sacramento 25, near Largo do Carmo, and there many Esquilo handbags for sale as well as other nice gifts for you or your friends.
I used vintage curtains to make this small quilt. It is now complete. It reminds me of the sun. And so it will make its way north tomorrow to hopefully bring some warmth and happiness to a friend who now sees the sun set at 15.30h. I have started to get a little sad just to see the sun disappear today at about 17.30h. Sadder still is the fact that the shortest day for my Nordic friend will be the 22nd of December. On this day the sun will rise at 8.45 and set at 14.48, the length of this day a total of 6hours, 3 minutes and 44 seconds.
Tomorrow, friday the 5th, LX Factory opens its doors yet again for an OPEN DAY. You are all very welcome to come and visit the studio, say hello have a chat and stay for the party. There will be bags for sale. Yay. Bring friends. The studio is on the 4th floor of the main building.
This is a quilt I started in Berlin and will finish soon I hope. The fabrics are both vintage and used to be curtains. It will make for a nice little winter warmer or it could look quite cool hanging on a wall. Something sunny and cheery to have around the house as winter nears.
Well...I am pretty happy with my fabric purchases from my recent travels...which explains my absence from posting. The markets in Berlin were amazing. I wanted to transport the whole of Mauerpark back with me and the Turkish markets were also so much fun. That´s where the ribbons came from as well as the bright blue fabric with golden thread. Berlin in such a great city... I think I could live there very happily. Stockholm...what can I say....amazing... super design, bright and oh so cheerie. The city on the other hand was cold a little soulless, its dark mysterious waters mesmerising... and yet I was in heaven. Can´t wait to make 2 new collections...My Berlin Holiday...& My Stockholm Holiday.
These are details of bags available for purchase from the Wrong Shop and Jimmy Camões in Lisboa. Happy shopping! The last is a new model with chain based on the very first bag I ever made. A nice warm little number made from a wool fabric ready for the new cooler season.
